Old Dalmatian Chapel

Old Dalmatian chapels and structures are scattered along our coast and its hinterland. Most of them are covered by urban layers remaining lost and forgotten. Their number witnesses the most prolific period of Croatian architecture and builders’ skills. Rediscovered, they occupy our attention telling stories about the beauty of Dalmatia. Their distinctive shape and raw beauty testify about life in Dalmatia and its nature’s genuine beauty.

Dry Stone Wall

The design of labels was inspired by paintings in the cycle “Dry Stone Wall” which were painted by Oton Gliha throughout his whole life. Perception of landscape as a flat surface widened the boundaries between realistic and heretic, transforming the vision of dry stone wall into an abstract element. Dry stone wall is a symbol of hard physical work and struggle for each piece of land, so it is a sensible choice when visualizing centuries of labour, knowledge and persistence that people of Dalmatia invested in their work and creation.

Ode to the Sun

Solstice is not only an astronomical-geographical fact. A change of seasons and natural movement of the Sun were implemented in structures by early Christian builders. Six-leaved shape, a spherical layout with six apses laid as rays, is the most distinctive type among central buildings of early medieval architecture of the Zadar hinterland. The shape of a layout of one such building inspired the central shape on a label with a design of sun’s position during season changing. The label itself is an ode to the Sun, whose rays are captured in sweet juice of grape.
